Labour demand and job-to-job movement

چکیده
The relationship between labour demand and job-to-job movement is investigated, both theoretically and empirically, at the macro level. It concentrates on the role of the employment regime (hiring, do-nothing or ® ring) and the hiring and ® ring costs. The exact upper bounds of the marginal hiring costs of an employed worker are derived, for which job mobility between two ® rms yields a positive aggregate relationship between job-to-job movement and employment. The relationship is estimated as a cointegration model for the Netherlands; it appears that the inclusion of the job-to-job mobility rate may provide a substantial improvement of the estimated labour-demand equation.

Labour demand and job-to-job movement: Macro-consequences as a result from Micro-Economie behaviour
This paper investigates, both theoretically and empirically, the relationship between labour demand and job-to-job movement at the macro-level. A labour demand equation is modelied, which distinguishes the adjustment costs into net and gross adjustment costs. The paper derives and simulates the exact upper bounds of the marginal hiring costs of an empioyed worker, for which a quit between two f...

This paper considers labour supply and demand shocks in a simple flow model of the labour market. We consider the propagation of these shocks in a matching model with competition between various groups of job seekers. By way of simulations we explore the extent of labour market hysteresis arising from competition between unemployed job seekers and job seekers outside the labour force. The simul...

This paper uses a unique firm level data base of traditional and newly established private enterprises to investigate gross job flows and labour demand in the transition period in Slovenia. We find that job destruction dominates job creation in the early years of transition, but later in the transition job destruction diminishes. The excess job reallocation rate, a measure for restructuring, is...
